About Us

Babel Books Toronto is a new independent bookstore in Toronto, opened in the fall of 2026.

We specialize in Russian-language books and work in partnership with the Babel bookstore network. We especially love the atmosphere and carefully curated selection of Babel Books in Tel Aviv, and we hope to bring its world of books closer to readers here in Canada.

We are starting as an online bookstore, with our initial selection focused on contemporary tamizdat — Russian-language books published outside Russia. In the near future, we plan to expand our catalogue significantly with books published in Russia, while gradually adding titles in Ukrainian, Belarusian, and English.

But our online store is only the beginning. We hope to open a physical Babel Books Toronto location very soon — a real bookstore and a welcoming space for meeting people, sharing ideas, and discovering new books.

Thank you for being with us!
